  2. This is beta release 1.2.2 of GNU Oleo.  This release fixes various
  3. configuration problems, portability problems, and bugs in the
  4. oleo-1.2.1 release.
  5.  
  6. Oleo is a spreadsheet program (better for you than the more expensive
  7. spreadsheet).  It supports X windows and character-based terminals, and
  8. can generate embedded PostScript(*) renditions of spreadsheets.
  9. Keybindings should be familiar to Emacs users and are configurable by
  10. users.
  11.  
  12. There is relatively little documentation for Oleo.  The file USING
  13. contains what there is.
  14.  
  15. Future plans include:
  16.   - Improving the Oleo command set and display interface.
  17.  
  18.   - Making Oleo use the GNU graphics to produce graphs from spreadsheet
  19.     data.
  20.  
  21.   - Extending the data model to support
  22.     - Multiple spreadsheet files (like multiple buffers in Emacs).
  23.     - Multiple named variables and arrays within a single file
  24.       (or shared by multiple files).
  25.     - Symbolic addressing (rather than only row/column addressing).

  27. n.b. The MS-DOS support in the Oleo alpha has not been respected.
  28.   Oleo no longer compiles as-is on MS-DOS.
